2021 Carolina Olde Boys Weekend Information
The Carolina Rugby Foundation and the South Carolina Men’s Rugby Club are delighted to host our alumni, friends and parents November 12-14. Guests are welcomed! The weekend includes a Friday night contest between the Carolina Olde Boys and the UofSC, and a Friday social and bowling contest. On Saturday, the Gamecocks will take on Alabama. Afterwards, we’ll host a social at a nearby pub where we’ll have an exciting announcement and give out some awards.
Schedule of Events and Hotel
The foundation has reserved a group rate of $129 per night at Spring Hill Suites on the Vista near downtown Columbia for Friday, Saturday and Sunday. Use this link to book your rooms. The last day to book is October 29.
6 p.m. at Bluff Road Fields. The Carolina rugby team will take on the Carolina Olde Boys.
8-10:30 p.m. Meet us at the Petro Travel Center at 2154 South Beltline Blvd. We have reserved the entire facility, which includes 16 bowling lanes, an outside deck, bar and game room. We’ll have a friendly bowling competition. Let us know if you want to bowl. We will set up the teams so that students and alumni get to bowl together. We’ll also pull back the curtain on a new-look Sea Pappy (the unofficial mascot of 1990’s USC rugby)
Noon. The Gamecocks will take on the University of Alabama at Bluff Road facility at 1101 Bluff Road Field. A and B side games included.
5 p.m.- 8 p.m. Social at Savage Craft Ale Works in West Columbia. See parking map to the left. We’ll have an exciting announcement and will give out some awards. We will be holding a fundraising raffle and will be selling Carolina Rugby Jerseys. Also, you will have the opportunity to bid on several vacation homes.
If you would like to sponsor the evening event -- and have your banner displayed -- please contact Robert Balmer. Sponsorship cost is $500, and all sponsors will be recognized at the event. All proceeds will benefit that Carolina Rugby Foundation and Gamecock Rugby Club.
We are asking all of alumni to absolutely refrain from providing minors alcohol.
How Can I Participate?
The cost to attend the event is $80 if you register before October 29. Those registering after that date should pay $100. Food and libations will be provided Friday and Saturday. You will also receive a COB weekend t-shirt. Please know that this is a fundraising event to support the Foundation and the Carolina Rugby Club.
