Founded in 1967, the University
of South Carolina Rugby Football
Club is the oldest sports club
on the campus of the University
of South Carolina. Both an
athletic and a social club, the
team regularly socializes with
its opponents after a
hard-fought match, and the
social is a large part of rugby
tradition in both domestic and
international circles. The club
also regularly participates in
many charity and community
service activities, and is a
regular participant in the
Carolina-Clemson Blood Drive
each year. USC Ruggers are among
the most dedicated citizens you
will ever come across,
dedicating much of their time
and money throughout college to
the sport they love.
The
club accepts members year-round,
and rugby experience isn't
necessary. Many club members
only begin to play in college,
and several have been quick to
win the team's prestigious 'Best
and Fairest' Competition in
their first or second year
playing the game.
USC
RFC competes in USA Rugby South
Division I competition (an honor
bestowed upon only 7 southern
universities) and is a
proud member of
USA Rugby,
USA Rugby
South, and the
Palmetto
Rugby Union.
Additionally, the club is
honored to compete in the
SEC
Championship Rugby Tournament
and regularly participates in
the Palmetto Rugby Union
Tournament. Several club members
are also annually selected to
the Palmetto Rugby Union
Collegiate All-Star team and
compete in the USA Rugby South
Local Area Union All-Star
Tournament each November, where
they are selected to tryout for
the USA Rugby South Collegiate
All-Star Team.
