Whether you're a high school
student sorting through your
options, or enrolled at USC
already, you've no doubt noticed
the incredible beauty of the
University of South Carolina's
campus. The Palmetto State's
flagship university takes great
pride in combining modern
amenities with historic
distinguishment, and USC's rugby
and athletic facilities are no
different. The Men's Rugby Club
is a proud tenant of the Strom
Thurmond Wellness & Fitness
Center's showcase field, and has
an additional pitch on which to
practice and play when
necessary. Furthermore, our gym
is among the nation's elite, as
it includes over 160
strength-training stations, as
well as a two-story indoor
climbing wall, among other
amenities. |
Legacy Rugby Field at the
Strom Thurmond Wellness & Fitness Center

Legacy Field at the Strom Thurmond Wellness and
Fitness Center is the primary home of men's
rugby at the University of South Carolina, and
is the secondary pitch for the women's rugby
club. Opened in spring of 2007, the field serves
as a showcase for rugby in the Southeast, in
what many opponents have described as "the most
beautiful rugby field they've ever seen in college
rugby." The field lays adjacent to the
university's awe-inspiring Strom Thurmond
Wellness & Fitness Center and the impressive USC Greek Village system, with views of the
STWFC pool, the university's 4 year-old Colonial
Center, the historic Carolina Coliseum, and the
horizon-dominating Williams-Brice Stadium. The
field is also a hub for activity as it is
located in the heart of the university new
InnoVista research area, under construction as
we speak. The Men's Rugby Club at the University
of South Carolina
is proud to call this pitch home for many years
to come.
Did you know?
The field's first-ever event was hosted
by the Men's Rugby Club, as South Carolina RFC
defeated Kennesaw State, 47-10, on February 3rd,
2007.

The Rugby Field at the
Solomon Blatt Physical Education Center |

The
Rugby
Field at the Blatt P.E. Center is the
primary home of women's rugby at the University
of South Carolina, and is the secondary pitch
for the men's rugby club. Re-opened in spring of
2007, the field has been the traditional home of
several rugby, sports clubs, and intramural
matches over the 40 years of rugby existence at
the University of South Carolina. Slated for
renovations in Fall 2005, the field was recently
re-opened with a new playing surface, in
addition to several visual upgrades which
enhance the quality of the surrounding area,
including access to Rocky Branch Creek. The
field is just a short walk (two blocks) from the
primary facilities for the Palmetto Rugby
Showcase.
Due to field reservation usage, the club is
sometimes required to use
The Rugby Field at the Blatt P.E. Center as a
practice and/or gameday pitch. The officers
will let you know via e-mail when and if this is
necessary to do.
