Never played rugby before? No
problem! In fact, most
collegiate rugby players have
never even seen the game before
college. Come out to practice
with us- we'll teach you the
game. As it stands today,
the Men's Rugby club at USC is composed primarily of
former high school football and
soccer players, with several
starters having two years or
less experience. In addition to
this, the club is committed to
fielding at least two teams in
the 2008-2009 season, so all
members will get a chance to
play each weekend.

All club members are expected to
match the team's uniform code on
gamedays. As a result, club
members need a pair of black
shorts (no stripes or patterns),
black athletic socks (soccer
socks), and a black undershirt.
The team heavily recommends
purchase of rugby shorts for the
shorts requirement, but they are
not necessary. You will also
need a pair of cleats if you
don't own a pair already.
Football and soccer cleats do
just fine, however if your
football cleats have a toe cleat
(on the upper edge of the shoe's
front), you will have to remove
it or cut it off before gameday.
Club members are also required
to bring a mouth guard to all
practices and games.
Other items that you may
purchase or use, but are not
required, include IRB-certified
rugby shoulder padding
(available at
World Rugby Shop -
see link below), black athletic
sliders (for under your shorts),
and black under armor (polyester
blends, etc.) of any length for
under your jersey. |
